Hospitality tabletop and base size guide by guest capacity

Pairing a heavy or wide tabletop with an undersized base causes tipping, flexing and wobble. This technical guide matches exact tabletop dimensions (Ø60 to Ø180 cm and 60×60 to 200×145 cm) with top plate sizes, base weights in kg and stabilization points across all 21 esTABLEes models.

Whether you are keeping your venue's existing tabletops or ordering complete tables with standard or custom tops, proper sizing comes down to four verified specs: maximum tabletop size and shape, top mounting plate or frame, base mass (from 6.6 kg to 61.5 kg) and number of stabilization points (4 to 8).

Technical criteria for matching tops and bases

01 — Top plate or frame matched to tabletop overhang

Compact tops (60×60 to 80×80 cm or Ø60 to Ø90 cm) pair with a 30×30×3.2 cm top plate (SQUARE S, QUO S, CIRCULAR S, TARS S/ALT, CIRCULAR ALT, QUO ALT). Stepping up to 90×90 or Ø100 cm requires a 40×40×3.5 cm plate (SQUARE M, QUO M, CIRCULAR M, TARS M), while 100×100, Ø120 and rectangular formats up to 200×145 cm use 64×64, 79×39, 80×40, 80×80, 99×44 cm frames or an octagonal top plate.

02 — Base mass (kg) balanced against tabletop weight

Large ceramic, stone or solid wood tops require substantial counterweight in the base. Our range scales from lightweight 6.6–10 kg terrace bases (CREU, AGORA, TARS S/M, ECO, EQUIS) to heavy-duty 30.3–61.5 kg structures (QUO M2/L/L2/XL, SQUARE M2/L/L2, CIRCULAR M2, MICHELIN, MICHELIN XL and CERAMIC).

03 — Stabilization points (4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 contact points)

Every family automatically absorbs up to 30 mm of floor unevenness, while the number of stabilization points scales with diameter and load distribution: 4 points on cross, square and 4-leg bases; 5 points on CIRCULAR S and CIRCULAR ALT; 6 points on CIRCULAR M/M2 and rectangular L/L2/XL models of SQUARE and QUO; 7 OCULT systems on MICHELIN and MICHELIN XL; and 8 points on CERAMIC.

04 — Daily operations: stacking, folding tops or adjustable height

If staff clear the terrace daily, TARS S and TARS ALT offer an optional S-Folding System (up to 70×70 and Ø80 cm), TARS M offers the XL Folding System (80×80 and Ø100 cm), TARS D combines a double base with XL folding (110×70, 120×80 and 140×90 cm) and AGORA stacks on 4 legs. For multi-use spaces, TARS E adjusts height from 70 to 100 cm with a locking lever.

Measurement checklist before ordering bases or tables

  • Measure the exact diameter or length × width of your existing or planned tabletops.
  • Check the top material and thickness to ensure the top plate (30×30, 40×40, 64×64, 79×39, 99×44 or octagonal) can be securely fastened.
  • Confirm whether the tables will be used indoors or on an outdoor terrace (anti-rust treatment and MTX outdoor paint in 9 colours).
  • Decide whether you need folding top hardware (available on TARS S, TARS M, TARS ALT and TARS D) or adjustable height (TARS E).
  • Download the PDF datasheets and 3D files from the family page or send us your size schedule for technical validation.

Frequently asked questions

Can I buy esTABLEes bases on their own and fit my own tabletops?

Yes. We supply both standalone self-stabilizing bases—so you can reuse your venue's existing tops or source custom tops locally—and complete tables with standard or custom tabletops.

What happens if I fit a tabletop larger than the recommended maximum size?

Exceeding the maximum size increases leverage at the edge and reduces tipping resistance when a guest leans on the table. If your top sits above a model's limit (for instance, 100×100 cm instead of 90×90 cm), step up to the next size (from M to M2) for the proper frame and weight.

Which bases do you recommend for large round tables seating 6 to 10 guests?

For Ø120 cm tops we recommend CIRCULAR M2, SQUARE M2 or QUO M2. For larger fine-dining round tables, MICHELIN supports up to Ø140 cm (45.8 kg, 7 OCULT points), CERAMIC up to Ø150 cm (47 kg, 8 OCULT points plus integrated 20h LED lighting) and MICHELIN XL up to Ø180 cm (47 kg, reinforced octagonal plate).

Do you have bases for 120×80, 140×90, 150×90 or 200×145 cm rectangular tops?

Yes: TARS L, SQUARE L and QUO L cover 120×80 cm; the twin folding base TARS D covers 110×70, 120×80 and 140×90 cm; SQUARE L2 and QUO L2 cover 150×90 cm (6–8 guests); and QUO XL supports tops up to 200×145 cm (8–10 guests) with a 61.5 kg base and octagonal plate.
